7 Stitches explores the complexity of grief in a future where AI developments promise a materialization of life beyond death. Through an evocative artifact—a pair of knitting needles left untouched after their owner’s passing, the artifact symbolizes the lingering question of what could have been. When picked up, they reflect their state of grief, powered by ChatGPT's API and "speak" to express how they feel and when moved, they emit a soft, mournful sound as if yearning for the hands they once knew. The project is an exploration of absence, memory, and the lingering traces of those who are no longer with us. Each visitor ‘visits’ the needle when they’re in a different stage of grief, adding to the complexity of interaction.
